Joe-Le Soap is available at the Harvey B. Gantt Center, Center City Charlotte downstairs in the Museum Store!! Grammy Award Winning singer/song-writer Anthony Hamilton, and Broadway performer/actor/singer Derrick Davis have proudly visited our shop to name a few. Other notables who have used our products are Entertainment Manager, Entrepreneur, and Actress Yandy Smith-Harris, Media Personality and Television Producer Shari Nycole, and the Currys.
Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture is located at Levine Center for the Arts and supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, the Arts & Science Council and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The Gantt Center is a proud participant in the National Endowment for the Arts' Blue Star Museums program.

Giving Back
We recently partnered with the Refugee Support Services. As a result of this relationship, a portion of our vendor proceeds have gone to furthering their mission of facilitating programs and intercultural relationships that promote refugee self-sufficiency and enriching their community.
We have partnered with the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter and the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte. As a result of these relationships, we are able to provide free soap annually to help hundreds of men and women in Charlotte stay clean, and maintain personal hygiene in order to help empower themselves during their unimaginably difficult times.
We have worked with the Crisis Assistance Ministry. As a result of providing a portion of our proceeds, we are able to play a role in the impact of families escaping the threat of homelessness and empowering them to pursue economic security.
In honor of our late Co-Founder Joseph Dewayne Handsome PhD. We have partnered with Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals/OBAP, in conjunction with the Aerospace Career Education/ACE program. Joe was an avid enthusiast of piloting and aerodynamics. We are keeping his passion soaring by helping with this worthy cause and program.

1974 - 2020
As African-Americans, covert or overt, racism is not foreign to us. As a result we have made it our civic duty to take personal accountability in educating ourselves on the law, voting, attending town halls, being affiliated with change-based non-profit organizations, meeting with, and/or writing our local representatives, and speaking candidly with others. In recent cases we’ve been reminded of how critical this work is.
The wrongful killing of George Floyd was heart-breaking, and in the manner in which it took place. His death along with the staggering number of other victims of police brutality over the last decade, has been a reminder of the need for police reform that has haunted our country over the last century. It is an issue that has continuously resurfaced, with the latest being the most shocking. We can attest that having a knee to someone’s neck can come in physical, psychological, and/or systematic form. Specifically, George Floyd’s was a physical form of implicit bias within one of the precincts of Minneapolis.
At Joe-Le Soap, we believe the American Dream should be within equal reach, all citizens should live by the same laws, and be afforded the same opportunities. In this tragedy, we hope that little Gianna’s words come to fruition. We hope that her dad Mr. Floyd’s although sad legacy, will in fact change the world. We hope that the massive public outcry will push the needle on much needed legislation that will airtight policing policies to avoid this type of inexcusable behavior from ever happening again. And lastly, to restore the faith and bridge the gap between the black community and law enforcement that has historically plagued our country.
We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and well during these challenging times. Take this stay at home time to have those difficult talks with each other. Your dialogue could create a ripple effect provoking change and growth throughout our nation. Thank you as always for your continued business and patronage.
